Mountain Biking Upper & Lower
High Gear
There are over 25 miles of mountain bike trail at the Summit, freshly built and ready to pedal. High Gear will feature skills courses such like a pump track, dirt jumps, race courses and dual slalom courses. Everything is organized according to ability level. Expert or beginner, if you're ready to fly, High Gear is ready for you.
Mountain Biking Upper & Lower
Low Gear
Low Gear is part of the more than 25 miles of mountain bike trails at the Summit. Here we’ve got cross country mountain biking and downhill courses, ready to go. The trails are also divided by ability level — green, blue and black, just like ski slopes. That means endless adventure for everyone.
Shooting Sports
The Barrels
The shooting sports facilities at the Summit will rival ranges anywhere in the world. We’ve got over 200 stations waiting for you: sporting clays, trap and airsoft spread over 50 acres. If you like shotguns and riflery, get locked and loaded by registering for the national jamboree now.
Pump Track
The Trax
FYI, the BMX at the SBR is going to be WOW — little bikes for big fun. BMX bikes are great on dirt track, perfect for freestyle, and even good in the park. Wait till you see the no-pedal pump track at the jamboree, and the diversity of terrain means there’s something just for you.
Skateboarding
The Park
Get ready to shred the jamboree. For the first time ever, skateboarding is among the high adventure offerings, and skating at the Summit is going to be sweet. We’ve got bowls, vert and street features. We’ve even got a foam pit, so you can push the envelope. All skill levels welcome!
Climbing Walls
The Rocks
Are you a climber? This jamboree adventure area has room enough for over a hundred Scouts and Venturers to climb and rappel. Whether you’re a beginner or an expert, the rock climbing at the Summit will have the perfect vertical challenge for you and your friends. Get ready to find out why the New River Gorge is world-famous for rock climbing.
Archery Sports
The Bows
Archery is a classic Scouting activity, but we’ve given it a twist at the Summit. In addition to traditional target ranges, sign up for archery at the jamboree and experience 3D archery courses, as well as “sporting arrows” that challenges you with moving aerial targets. Are you an archer? Then get ready for The Bows!
Challenge Course
The Ropes
We’ve taken challenge courses to a whole new level for the jamboree. The Ropes is a network of zip lines, balance beams, cargo nets and other challenges — all suspended 25 feet above the ground. You’ll be harnessed up and clipped in for this obstacle-course-in-the-air. If you love COPE courses and team-building exercises, don’t miss this jamboree activity.
Canopy Tour
The Canopy
Do you feel at home in the trees? Then get ready to harness up and explore the hemlock forest of the New River Gorge. This aerial adventure will open your eyes to the forest ecology while giving you the thrill of being suspended 30 feet in the air.
SCUBA & Swimming
The Pools
Do you want to try SCUBA? Or just cool off in the summer sun? Have you ever heard of dragon boat racing? We’ve also got a Mariner’s Adventure planned for you. The Pools at the jamboree include man-made aquatics areas, and several lakes spread across the Summit. If water sports is your kind of adventure, better get registered for the national jamboree.
Popular Science & Robotics
The Cloud
Adventure at the jamboree includes technology. The Cloud is the place to go to learn about robotics and engineering, mobile communications, computer science and other cool areas of technology. You’ll get to meet engineers, and maybe even astronauts! If you’re ready for The Cloud, time to upload your files for jamboree registration.
Big Zip
The Zip
Zip lines will be zigging and zagging across the Summit. Scouts and Venturers who attend the jamboree will experience high-speed aerial adventure, including “Zip-Zilla,” which puts 5 participants on side-by-side cables. Zip lines criss-cross mountain bike trails and the Summit stadium, too. In all, we’ve got miles of cable ready for fun!
